Joseph Pelzman, MA, LMFT #112997

I believe that as your therapist I am here to help you to figure out where your pain lies, where you tend to stumble and to work collaboratively with you to do something different . . .  perhaps for the first time in your life.  I am here to help you see past  your blind spots and show you the qualities and strengths which you have yet to own, or perhaps lost somewhere along the way then assist you in processing and metabolizing your pain and to move into a space of insight, wellbeing and empowerment.

The focus of my work to date has been with LGBTQ individuals from ages 14 to 65, particularly transgender, gender non-conforming, queer, gay, lesbian and bisexual transitional youth, adults, and couples in addition to people of all ages living with HIV/AIDS.  I have had the honor of working with some of the pioneering leaders in this field.

I hold a Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology with a specialization in LGBTQ Affirmative Therapy.  While educated in psychodynamic talk therapy, my training emphasizes on trauma recovery, EMDR, Somatic Experiencing, substance abuse, relationships, HIV and Cognitive/Behavioral techniques.  Whether you’re looking to make a major change in your life or simply fine tune your spiritual and existential path . . . nothing is too small or too big for us to work on.  Together we will create a non-judgmental, affirmative holding environment or therapeutic “bubble” in order for your authentic growth and healing to occur.
